The RNA has received a letter from the Hallmark Society calling for nominations of structures in our community that are worthy of heritage designation.
The criteria are:
A structure, i.e. house, store, office, public building, bridge, outhouse, wall, fence, barn, fountain, lane, alley, streetscape, green-space etc., that is not currently protected by community bylaws such as Heritage Designation, or Registry; that is at risk for some reason (abandoned, surrounded by new development, in an area zoned for something bigger, etc.): that is likely to be of considerable age (likely before 1910)); that is significant or has an interesting history (owners, occupants, architecture).
The Hallmark Society is seeking addresses of structures for consideration by the end of August at the latest, together with some brief indication as to why the nominated structure might be significant.
